Waves in a ripple tank

The following diagrams show how water ripples behave in a ripple tank.
The animations show the motion of plane waves produced by a rod and then the formation of circular waves by a source (the yellow dot) .

If the ball in the second animation oscillates slower the frequency of the waves would be decreased and their wavelength increased (assuming a constant wave speed). However if it oscillates faster the frequency is increased and the wavelength decreased.
